Library programs that help reduce textbook costs

McIntyre Library is committed to helping instructors reduce the amount students pay out of pocket for textbooks. Whether that is through assisting instructors with finding open educational resources or purchasing library-licensed materials that can be incorporated in courses, we are here to help.

Contact yourlibrary liaison or Library.OpenEd@uwec.edu to learn more!

Library-Licensed Materials

McIntyre Library provides access to thousands of ebooks and other materials that can be used in courses. Check out our Ebooks for Class Collection to see examples of course-assigned titles we have purchased for students and instructors to use.

Open Educational Resources

Open educational resources (OER) are educational resources that are freely available for anyone to use, adapt, and share. This can include everything from syllabi and lesson plans to full courses and textbooks. We are happy to help you find potential OER for your course where available. For more information about OER, check out our OER guide or email Library.OpenEd@uwec.edu

Pressbooks

McIntyre Library provides access to Pressbooks, an open textbook publishing platform, to instructors who are interested in creating their own open textbook or adapting an existing one to better fit their course. Pressbooks has a robust Canvas integration that allows you to create automatically graded assignments using optional interactive activities that you can build into your textbook. For more information about Pressbooks, check out our OER guide or email Library.OpenEd@uwec.edu
